Mental health is undoubtedly extremely important, but with one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in the UK each year, it’s now more vital than ever for business leaders and entrepreneurs to speak out about their experiences and encourage workers to follow suit.
Our very own Sam Jones has spoken openly about his personal struggle with mental health, explaining how his anxiety began at a young age yet it wasn’t until University that he reached out for help and began to understand the condition. Urging others to end the anxiety stigma by talking about their experiences, he explains “After I spoke about it, loads of people got in touch – people who I’d never have imagined had issues with anxiety, to say that they had problems with it too.”
Several other Manchester business leaders, including entrepreneur Professor Vikas Shah, have also spoken freely about their anxiety and depression in the article published on Manchester Evening News, showing the sheer necessity for businesses to place more emphasis on workplace wellness.
